In Memphis, Tennessee we meet the first all-girl’s radio station, WHER. It’s 1968 and they play ‘‘music for women,’’ broadcasting from their studio, the Doll Den. Exploring both the joy and the frustration that comes with their role as female radio DJs, Welcome to the Doll Den tells a story about masks, pain, and the struggle for identity.
